House with the red cabinets
Project: Renovation of a duplex apartment
Status: Completed
Location: London, UK
Date: 2026
The renovation of a duplex flat in the upper floors of a newly built apartment building. The interior was only partially finished, offering the opportunity to create a more coherent identity and architectural character to interiors that were fairly overlooked and underdeveloped. While equipped with an open plan living room and terraces on each floor, the apartment lacked any sense of generosity in terms of spatial connection between rooms, height, artificial and natural light, storage provision and the quality of finishes.
The refurbishment of the interior has operated on three levels: the introduction of transformative new cuts and openings to create a mezzanine study, internal windows and double height stair; flooding the space with continuous oak flooring and sills throughout; and the insertion of a series of bespoke built-in furniture pieces.
A collaborative project with architect Fan Xingjian.
